Medium length Relco workwear jacket in Melton wool fabric with PVC shoulder and back panels. It has deep front box pockets and the bottom is horizontally cut with no back vent. Traditionally unlined, this updated version is fully lined in red tartan woven fabric.
Designed in 1888 by George Key for workers on the Manchester Ship Canal, it was the navvies working on the donkey engines who provided the inspiration for the name of the new jacket. Later designs introduced the leather panels which would be replaced with PVC in recent years. It has been adopted by subcultures since the middle of the 20th Century, namely Teddy boys, rockabillys and skinheads.
